MARRAIGE
Family and friends take part in this joyful ritual. On the wedding day, the couple takes a Mangala Snanam, a holy bath to cleanse their body and mind. The bride performs Gowri Pooja to seek blessings for a happy married life.
When the groom arrives, he is welcomed warmly. During Kanyadanam, the bride’s parents give their daughter to the groom with love and blessings. A curtain separates the couple until this ritual is completed.
The main moment is Jeelakarra Bellam, where the couple applies cumin and jaggery paste on each other’s heads, symbolizing a strong and sweet bond. The groom then ties the Mangalasutra around the bride’s neck, marking their marriage. Finally, the couple takes Saptapadi, seven steps together, promising lifelong support.
Andhra marriages beautifully mix tradition, culture, and happiness, making the celebration memorable for everyone.
