Rahul & Surbhi's story
An accidental Facebook request changed my life. We didn’t talk at first—until I pranked him saying “Bunil aaw” (earthquake). I had no idea he was Kashmiri, but his reply—“Kait aaw?”—left me stunned. We connected instantly, but I never shared my photo. He’d never seen me, only heard my words. That mystery led to misunderstandings… and silence for 7 months. Then one breezy day, I saw him—shirt flowing, hair dancing in the wind. He looked like someone I once knew… and he was. My “Bunil” guy. I messaged him again, and this time—we never stopped talking. 8 years, countless memories, a love that survived distance. He’s now a famous Kashmiri singer, I’m a freelance model… and we’re engaged. From one random message to a forever kind of love.

Masmuchrun, Mehndiraat
**Masmuchrun** is a beautiful Kashmiri pre-wedding ritual where the bride and groom are blessed by family as turmeric and mustard oil are gently applied to their face and body. It’s a moment of love, laughter, and glowing beginnings—meant to purify and prepare them for the new journey ahead. Surrounded by elders, prayers, and traditional songs, it’s deeply emotional and rooted in heritage. **Mehndiraat**, held the same evening or just after, is a celebration full of music, dance, and vibrant joy. The bride’s hands and feet are adorned with mehndi (henna), often with her partner’s initials hidden in the design. Friends and family gather to sing, dance, and shower her with blessings and happiness. These two traditions beautifully blend sacred rituals with joyful celebration, marking the start of a lifetime of love.
