Hey guyz it’s us Shahin & Ajmal. Our paths crossed through our common friends meetup which bloomed into a seven-year journey of love, understanding, and resilience. Balancing tradition with modernity, personal dreams with familial expectations, we stood by each other. Our relationship blossomed into a bond so strong that our families, too, saw the beauty in our love, blessing our union with a heartfelt “yes.”

Mehendi Function
The Mehendi function is a symbolic event where the bride’s hands and feet are adorned with henna designs. It is a time for family and friends to gather and celebrate in anticipation of the wedding. 1)Traditional Henna Application - The bride is the centerpiece of the celebration,
2)Vibrant Decor - The venue is adorned with bright colours, symbolizing fertility and joy 3)Cultural Attire -The bride wears a traditional outfit such as a lehenga or saree in vibrant colors. Guests often dress in ethnic attire, adding to the festive atmosphere, 4)Music and Dance - The event include modern music and choreographed performances by family members and friends, 5)Delicious Food -Guests enjoy a spread of traditional Kerala snacks and beverages, such as jelabi, samosas, and sharbat.A light dinner may follow, featuring popular dishes like pathiri, chicken curry, and biryani.6)Rituals - The groom’s family send gifts & participate in the celebration, symbolizing the union of two families.

Reception
The wedding reception is a grand post-Nikah event, organized by groom to celebrate the union of the bride and groom with extended family, friends, and the local community. Unlike the Nikah, which is more spiritual and intimate, the reception is a lively and festive gathering filled with heartfelt moments, delicious food, and cultural vibrancy. The reception beautifully reflects the joy and togetherness that defines Kerala Muslim weddings. It’s a blend of tradition, hospitality, and modern celebration, where love and happiness take center stage. For the newlyweds, it marks the beginning of a new chapter, surrounded by the blessings and good wishes of their community.

Wedding
A Kerala Muslim wedding, known as “Nikah”, is a beautiful blend of Islamic principles and the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. Known for its simplicity, elegance, and deep-rooted traditions, it emphasizes the values of family, community, and love while incorporating vibrant local customs.1) The Nikah Ceremony:The Nikah is the central part of the wedding, officiated by an Imam.The groom, in the presence of witnesses (wali), accepts the bride in marriage after reciting Quranic verses.The bride usually participates from a separate area or behind a curtain, symbolizing modesty.The marriage contract (Nikah Nama) is signed, detailing the Mahr (a gift from the groom to the bride). 2)Mubarakan (Congratulations):Once the Nikah is complete, family and friends shower blessings and congratulations on the couple.
3) Grand Feast (Walima):A wedding feast is held to celebrate the union. The menu often includes Kerala specialties like mutton biryani, desserts etc.
