Rathan & Bavana's story
In the timeless beauty of South India, where sacred traditions blend seamlessly, I joyfully invite you to witness the union of Rathan and Bavana as we begin our journey of love and togetherness. This May, in the graceful city of Bangalore, family and friends will gather to celebrate their bond amidst blessings, rituals, and joy.
The wedding festivities begin with the Haldi and Sangeeth on Saturday, 9th May, where vibrant colors, music, and laughter bring families together in joyful harmony. This is followed by the Mehendi on Sunday, 10th May, a celebration of love and tradition adorned with intricate designs and cherished moments. The celebrations continue with the Wedding Reception on Tuesday, 12th May, an evening of elegance and togetherness. The journey culminates in the sacred Muhurtham on Wednesday, 13th May where Rathan and Bavana will be united in a traditional South Indian wedding ceremony, surrounded by jasmine garlands, silk attire, Vedic chants, and the blessings of elders.

Haldi
🌼 Haldi Ceremony: Simple, Sacred, and Joyful
What it is
The Haldi ceremony is a traditional pre-wedding ritual where a paste made of turmeric (sometimes mixed with sandalwood, milk, or rose water) is applied to the bride and groom. Turmeric is believed to purify, protect from negative energy, and bless the couple with health and glow before the wedding.
What travelers will experience
A warm, intimate gathering of close family and friends
A playful atmosphere—people laugh, tease, and sometimes smear haldi on guests too
Traditional décor using marigold flowers, banana leaves, mango leaves, and brass lamps
Light devotional or film music playing softly in the background
The ceremony is usually held in the morning or early afternoon, often at a home, temple courtyard, or resort
Food & drinks
Simple South Indian fare such as lemon rice, coconut rice, vada, sweet pongal, payasam
Cooling drinks like buttermilk, tender coconut water, or fruit juices.
Sangeet
Sangeet: Music, Dance, and High Energy
What it is
The Sangeet is a celebratory evening event centered on music and dance. While traditionally more common in North India, it is now very popular in Bangalore weddings, often adapted with a South Indian twist.
What travelers will experience
A lively, party-like atmosphere with stage lighting and sound systems
Dance performances by family and friends—often choreographed weeks in advance
Music ranging from Bollywood hits to Tamil, Telugu, Kannada songs, and fusion mixes
DJs or live singers, audience cheering, and open dance floors
Fun moments like skits, speeches, or video montages about the couple
The event usually takes place in the evening, at banquet halls, hotels, or wedding venues
Food & drinks
A lavish buffet with multiple cuisines—South Indian, North Indian, and sometimes international dishes - Starters, desserts, sweets, and mocktails

Wedding Reception
You’ll be warmly welcomed, even if you don’t know many people.
A smile, light conversation, and congratulating the couple is enough.
It’s normal to briefly greet the couple, take a photo, and move on.
🍽️ Food Tips (Very Important!)
Many receptions are fully vegetarian — this is cultural, not restrictive.
If food is served on a banana leaf, eat with your right hand (cutlery is often available—feel free to ask).
Try small portions of everything; hosts expect you to enjoy the food.
⏰ Timing & Flow
Receptions may start later than stated — this is normal.
You can arrive anytime during the event window.
🗣️ Language & Communication
English is widely spoken, especially in Bangalore.
Don’t worry about local languages—people will happily switch to English.
✨ Bottom Line
Relax, eat well, dress neatly, and enjoy the celebration. South Indian wedding receptions are inclusive, joyful, and memorable, especially for travelers experiencing Indian culture for the first time.
