About the hosts
Karandeep & Gurpreet's story
We first met Gurudwara Sahib ji, and what started as a simple connection slowly turned into a beautiful journey of love and togetherness. Over time, we discovered how much joy we find in the little things—whether it’s exploring new places together, cooking side by side, or enjoying movies on cozy evenings.
Gurpreet Kaur is currently pursuing her graduation in Forensic Science, while Karandeep Mattou is Singer and Actor. Together, we balance each other’s worlds and look forward to building a life full of love, laughter, and new adventures.
Our wedding is not just about us—it’s about celebrating with all the people who have been part of our journey. Your love, presence, and blessings will make our special day truly complete.
"Love is sweeter when shared, and our greatest joy will be celebrating this moment with you."

Tel/Haldi
In Sikh weddings, the Tel or Maiyaan ceremony (similar to the Haldi ritual in other cultures) is held a day or two before the wedding. A fragrant paste made of turmeric (haldi), flour, and mustard oil is applied to the bride or groom’s face, arms, and feet by family members. The ritual is meant to cleanse, purify, and beautify them before the wedding, while also showering blessings for a happy married life. The ceremony is filled with songs, laughter, and family bonding, and is considered one of the most joyful pre-wedding traditions.
Mehandi Sangeet
In Sikh weddings, the Mehndi and Sangeet ceremonies are celebrated with great joy and music a day or two before the wedding. During the Mehndi, the bride’s hands and feet are adorned with beautiful henna designs, symbolizing love, beauty, and good fortune. The Sangeet is a lively musical evening where both families come together to sing traditional Punjabi songs, dance to dhol beats, and celebrate the upcoming union. These ceremonies are less religious and more cultural, creating a festive atmosphere filled with laughter, colors, and togetherness.

Baraat and Wedding Ceremony
The Sikh marriage ceremony beautifully blends simplicity, spirituality, and joy. Starting with the vibrant Baraat, where the groom and his family are joyously welcomed, to the sacred Anand Karaj, where the couple takes their four Laavan around the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, every moment carries deep meaning.
Unlike ceremonies that focus on material display, the Sikh wedding emphasizes humility, equality, and devotion. By beginning their journey with prayers, hymns, and divine blessings, the bride and groom are reminded that their bond is not only a worldly partnership but a spiritual one.
As Guru Amar Das Ji said:
“They are not husband and wife who only sit together; rather, they are husband and wife who walk the same spiritual path.”

Wedding Reception
The Sikh wedding reception is a joyful celebration held after the religious Anand Karaj ceremony. It is not a religious ritual but a social gathering where the couple is introduced as husband and wife to extended family and friends. The event is filled with warm wishes, delicious food, music, dance, and entertainment. It symbolizes the beginning of the couple’s new journey together and gives everyone a chance to celebrate their union in a lively, festive atmosphere.
