Shangar & Madhumitha's story
With hearts full of love and excitement, we are delighted to invite you to celebrate the most special chapter of our lives — our wedding!
We are Madhumitha & Shangar, two architects who found not just inspiration in design, but in each other. What began as a shared passion for spaces and stories slowly built the foundation of something beautiful — a bond shaped by creativity, laughter, and endless cups of coffee over drawings and dreams.
As we take the next big step in our journey, we would be honoured to have you with us to witness our traditional South Indian Tamil Hindu wedding, a celebration filled with colours, music, joy, and the irresistible aroma of authentic Tamil cuisine. Expect laughter echoing through the halls, the warmth of family and friends, and the timeless beauty of rituals that mark love and togetherness.
Join us as we begin this new design of life — one built with love, trust, and the blessings of those dearest to us.

Reception
The event usually begins with the bride and groom arriving together, often dressed in elegant attire — the bride in a rich silk saree and the groom in a traditional suit. They are welcomed with music, lights, and smiles as guests gather to shower them with love and blessings.
The evening flows with photo sessions, heartfelt greetings, and warm conversations as guests meet the couple on stage. Soon after, everyone indulges in a lavish South Indian feast, featuring an array of traditional dishes served on banana leaves or a grand buffet with regional favourites — from aromatic sambar and crispy vadai to decadent payasam.
The atmosphere is filled with music, laughter, and joy — sometimes with light entertainment or dance performances. It’s a relaxed, festive gathering that beautifully balances tradition and celebration, marking the beginning of the couple’s journey together with love, blessings, and good food.

Muhurtham
The day begins early, with the air filled with the sounds of nadaswaram and thavil, and the sweet aroma of fresh flowers and sandalwood. The groom’s arrival, or mappillai azhaippu, is greeted with music, laughter, and festive cheer.
The heart of the ceremony is the muhurtham, the sacred moment when the bride and groom exchange garlands, tie the thaali (mangalsutra), and take their vows around the holy fire, surrounded by chanting priests and the blessings of elders.
Throughout the ceremony, each ritual — from kanyadaanam (giving away the bride) to saptapadi (the seven steps) — carries deep meaning, symbolizing love, trust, and togetherness.
The setting is a feast for the senses — vibrant silk sarees, golden decor, fragrant jasmine, and the joyful chaos of families celebrating love. The rituals conclude with a grand meal, laughter, and heartfelt blessings for the couple’s new beginning.
