Marriage
1. Ganesh / Gauri Puja
Prayers offered to Lord Ganesha (remover of obstacles) and Goddess Gauri for blessings.
2. Baraat / Janavasam
Groom arrives at the wedding venue in a procession with music and dancing.
3. Jaimala / Malai Maatral
Bride and groom exchange flower garlands, symbolizing acceptance of each other.
4. Kanyadaan
Bride’s parents formally give their daughter’s hand to the groom, entrusting her future to him.
5. Mangalsutra Dharanam & Sindoor
Groom ties the sacred mangalsutra around bride’s neck and applies sindoor (vermillion) on her forehead.
6. Saptapadi (Seven Steps)
The couple takes seven sacred steps around the holy fire, each step signifying a vow for married life.
7. Mangala Aarti / Ashirvadam
Elders bless the couple for a happy and prosperous life.
