Rahul & Tanu's story
Ours began as a traditional Indian arranged marriage. He had met many girls, and I had received many proposals, but neither of us had found the right connection. I even went to meet him planning to say no. Instead, we laughed so much that we forgot the time. I’m an Ayurvedic doctor who now runs an education business, and he’s a Chartered Accountant. We kept meeting, asking endless questions, sharing dreams, and slowly becoming best friends. He had even found my Instagram before we met and secretly driven around my neighborhood! He said yes first; I took my time. Today, what started as an arranged marriage feels like the most beautiful love story. It truly feels as if our souls were waiting to find each other. We’ve both faced hardships, but with each other we’ve found peace, laughter, a safe home, and a forever. We’d love for you to celebrate, dance, laugh, and experience the magic, warmth, colors, food, music, and traditions of our authentic Indian wedding with us.

Shagun
One of the most meaningful Dogra wedding traditions is the Shagun ceremony. Around 50 members of the bride’s family visit the groom’s home carrying beautifully packed gifts, sweets, dry fruits, and blessings. Before the Shagun begins, a special Dogri ritual called Thaaka takes place. “Thaaka” means “to stop.” The bride’s father symbolically tells the groom that his search for a life partner ends today—he now belongs to their daughter. It is a beautiful gesture of acceptance and trust. After this, the bride’s brothers present the Shagun to the groom, officially welcoming him into the family. The celebration continues with traditional Dogra cuisine, music, conversations, and joyful moments shared by both families. This ceremony reflects love, respect, family values, and the warmth that defines Dogra culture. We’d love for you to experience this beautiful tradition with us.

The bride’s Mehndi is applied in beautiful traditional designs, symbolizing love, prosperity, and a joyful beginning. As the evening unfolds, both families take over the stage with dance performances, fun games, emotional surprises, and lots of laughter. It’s not about competition—it’s about two families becoming one. You’ll experience colorful Indian outfits, vibrant decorations, delicious Dogra food, energetic music, and incredible hospitality. Whether you’re dancing with us, cheering for a performance, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, this evening promises unforgettable memories filled with love, culture, and celebration.

Barat
Our wedding day begins with the peaceful Saanth and Haldi ceremonies, where elders bless us with prayers, turmeric, and good wishes for a happy married life. As evening falls, the celebration comes alive with the grand Baraat, where the groom arrives dancing with his family and friends to the beats of traditional drums and music. The bride’s family welcomes everyone with the warmth and hospitality for which Dogra culture is known. After the wedding rituals begin, we will take our seven sacred pheras around the holy fire under a sky full of stars, making lifelong promises to one another. As the night draws to a close, the emotional Doli marks the bride’s farewell as she begins a new chapter with her husband. We’d be honored to have you witness these timeless traditions and celebrate with us.
