Thanusiyan & Vithushana's story
The Five-Year Promise
It wasn’t a love that happened overnight; it was a beautiful journey that grew in the quiet corners of Nilaveli. It started with a familiar face—my brother’s best friend. Someone who was always around, yet little did I know he would one day become my forever.
For five long years, we held onto a promise of a future together. It wasn't always easy; there were storms to weather and challenges to face, but our bond remained as steady as the tides on the Nilaveli shore. Waiting for him wasn't just about passing time; it was about building a foundation of trust and deep understanding.
Now, as the calendar nears May 27th, that long wait is finally turning into a beautiful reality. From being a "brother’s friend" to becoming the love of my life and my fiancé, our story is a testament to the fact that the best things in life are truly worth waiting for. Our wedding isn't just a ceremony; it’s the victory of our five-year-long patience and love.

Hindu Tamil wedding
The ceremony begins with Mappillai Azhaippu, where the groom is welcomed with traditional music. The heart of the wedding happens at the Manavarai (altar), starting with Ganesha Poojai to remove obstacles. The couple ties a sacred thread (Kanni Kaapu) for protection.
The most emotional moment is Kanyadhanam, where the father gives the bride’s hand to the groom. This leads to the Thali Kattu—the sacred moment where the groom ties the golden Mangalsutra around the bride's neck amidst a shower of flowers.
Following this, the couple exchanges heavy flower garlands (Maalai Maatral) and performs the Saptapadi, taking seven steps around the holy fire (Agni) to represent their lifelong vows. From the beautiful Koarai Saree to the silver toe rings (Minji), every detail celebrates a divine union of two souls and their families.
