Avijit & Minakshi's story
We met through our families, though our paths had unknowingly crossed for years in the same city. Everyone around us wanted us to marry quickly, but we chose to take our time—to understand each other and let love grow naturally. Over that year, we discovered how deeply our values, laughter, and dreams aligned. I work as an engineer in educational robotics at Qubits Education Pvt. Ltd., while she thrives as an HR manager at Tata Consultancy Services. Strangely yet beautifully, we share the same hometown—Ayodhya—where our wedding will take place on December 4th. It feels poetic to celebrate our new beginning where our stories began. We warmly invite you to join us in Ayodhya to share our joy, experience our culture, and bless our union. Your presence will complete our celebration of love and destiny.

Haldi
The haldi ceremony is a joyful pre-wedding ritual where family and friends apply a turmeric paste (haldi) to the bride and groom’s faces, arms, and legs, usually a day or two before the wedding. This ritual is believed to purify, bless, and protect the couple from negative energy, while also giving their skin a natural glow thanks to turmeric’s antibacterial properties. The ceremony is marked by music, traditional songs, and playful teasing among loved ones, creating a festive and intimate atmosphere. Afterward, the couple bathes and changes into fresh clothes, ready for the main wedding ceremony.

Shubh Vivah (Wedding)
A traditional wedding begins with the groom’s procession, known as the Baraat, where the groom’s family and friends dance and celebrate with music and bands as they move from the groom’s home to the wedding venue. Upon arrival, the families gather for the Dwar Pooja, a ritual welcoming and blessing the groom. Next comes the Jaimal, where the bride and groom exchange garlands, symbolizing mutual acceptance and the union of their families. After this joyful exchange, guests enjoy a meal together, sharing laughter and camaraderie. The main wedding ceremony follows under a decorated mandap, where the couple, surrounded by family, perform sacred rituals—circling the fire (Saptapadi), taking vows, and receiving blessings for a life together. With the completion of these rituals, the marriage is solemnised and the couple is officially united as husband and wife.

Vidai
Vidai is the emotional farewell ceremony marking the bride’s departure from her parental home as she begins her new life with her husband. As part of this ritual, the bride throws rice and coins over her head, symbolically repaying her parents and wishing prosperity and happiness for her childhood home. Family members—especially the father—give touching goodbyes and blessings, officially handing her over to the groom and his family. The bride is then escorted out, often accompanied to the car by siblings or relatives, and departs for her new home while loved ones shower her with best wishes and blessings. Vidai is considered one of the most poignant moments in an Indian wedding.
