Tilakotsaw
Tilakotsaw is a significant pre-wedding ritual in Indian culture that marks the official engagement and the formal acceptance of the union. Typically held at the groom’s home, the bride’s male family members visit to bless the groom.
The core ritual involves applying a Tilak (a mark of vermilion and rice) on the groom’s forehead, symbolizing honor and prosperity. Prayers are offered to Lord Ganesha to ensure a hurdle-free wedding. This ceremony is finalized with the exchange of gifts, sweets, and clothes, cementing the bond between the two families before the main wedding festivities begin.
