Wedding
The groom and bride begin by getting ready for the wedding. The ceremony starts with Kanyadanam, where the bride’s family formally entrusts their daughter to the groom. Afterward, a curtain is placed between the bride and groom, preventing them from seeing each other. Next is Panigraham, where the groom holds the bride’s hand, symbolizing their union. Then comes Jilakarra Bellam, where the couple places a cumin and jaggery paste on each other’s heads, signifying a sweet, inseparable bond. Following this, during Mangalasutra Dharana, the curtain is removed, and the groom ties the sacred mangalasutram with golden discs around the bride’s neck, marking their marital commitment. In the Akshitalu ritual, they exchange garlands and shower each other with sacred rice. Finally, during Arundhati Nakshatram, they are shown the stars symbolizing an ideal married life.
