Sangeet and mehendi
Mehndi, otherwise known as henna, is a paste associated with positive spirits and good luck. Indian Wedding tradition calls for a Mehndi ceremony to be held the night before the wedding as a way of wishing the bride good health and prosperity as she makes her journey on to marriage. A sangeet, for reference, is another prewedding event that consists of dancing, singing and celebrating for the couple and their closest relatives and friends. This extravagant celebration often happens the night before the wedding ceremony, so many opt to host their mehndi party within their sangeet.
Haldi ceremony
The closest family, relatives and friends come together on this auspicious occasion to apply turmeric paste (haldi) on the bride and groom's face and body. Some families also smear chandan (sandalwood powder) with rose water on the bride's face and hands and shower flowers on the couples.
Marriage
The wedding rituals are: The Bor Jatri, Bor Boron, Potto Bostro, Saanth Paak, Subho Drishti, Mala Badal, Sampradan, Yagna, Saptabadi, Anjali and Sindoor Dhan. The post wedding rituals are: Bashor Ghar, Bashi Bye, Bidai, Kaal Ratri, Bou Bhat and Dira Gaman. Bengali refers to the traditional Bengali cultural wedding, usually with Hindu rites and rituals native to the Bengal region of Indian subcontinent which has been practiced through centuries. It has almost uncountable rituals that connect culture, mind and families. In bengali hindu marriage, the 'Sindoor Daan' plays a crucial role and is the most ritualistic practice. Without which a marriage stands incomplete according to our Vedic Puranas. While, Bengali brides apply sindoor as a symbol of marriage their entire life.
