ROHIT & Nandita's story
Ours is an arranged marriage, but the journey has been truly special and meaningful. Our families introduced us, and at first, it was simply a formal meeting to know each other better. We started talking casually, learning about each other’s personalities, values, dreams, and the kind of life we both wanted in the future. What began as simple conversations slowly turned into comfort, understanding, and genuine connection.
The best part was that nothing felt forced. We gave each other time, respected each other’s thoughts, and naturally built trust. Even though it was arranged by our families, the bond started growing because of our own efforts and emotional understanding. We realized we shared similar values about family, career, and life, which made us feel more connected every day.

Tilak
A Tilak ceremony is a traditional pre-wedding ritual in many Indian arranged marriages. It usually takes place before the wedding day and symbolizes the formal acceptance of the groom by the bride’s family. During the ceremony, the bride’s family visits the groom’s home and applies a “tilak” (a mark made with sandalwood, vermilion, or turmeric) on the groom’s forehead as a sign of respect, blessings, and शुभकामनाएँ for the marriage.
The ceremony is also a way for both families to celebrate their new relationship. Gifts, sweets, clothes, and sometimes jewelry are exchanged between the families. Music, food, and gatherings make it a joyful occasion. In many cultures, the Tilak ceremony is considered an important step that officially announces and strengthens the wedding alliance between the two families.
