The groom's family visits the bride's home and presents her with clothes, jewellery, and other gifts. One of the most unique aspects of this tradition is that the groom himself does not attend the ceremony. Instead, his family, especially his mother, comes on his behalf. During the ritual, the groom's mother presents the vermilion (sindoor) to the bride, making the occasion both distinctive and culturally significant.

One of the most exciting moments is the arrival of the groom's procession, known as the borjatri. The groom and his family are welcomed by the bride's family with great enthusiasm. Traditional music, ululations (uruli), and the blowing of conch shells create a festive atmosphere. The wedding rituals take place in a decorated ceremonial area. A unique tradition is the Saat Paak, where the bride is carried around the groom seven times by her male relatives. This is often followed by the first ceremonial glance between the couple. The priest then conducts the marriage rituals with sacred chants and prayers. Food is an essential part of the celebration. Guests are treated to a traditional Assamese feast featuring dishes such as rice, fish, meat curries, lentils, vegetables, and a variety of sweets.
